RADIO Tradeshow

Every year in October, the SIEL-SATIS-Le RADIO tradeshow takes place in Paris Porte de Versailles. This is the occasion to meet all the actors of the French Radio market.

Digital Radio is closer than ever to a launch in France and Rachid Harab form the CSA (Conseil Supérieur de l'Audiovisuel) has symbolically launched the first DMC emitter for France.

This year should see 3 areas launched with DMB (Paris, Nice and Marseille). A few new comers have been authorised to start broadcasting their programs: La Radio du Soleil (Chinese community), R2O (ex-Superloustic), Radio Crooner (High quality classic songs) and LCI Radio (News channel).

RADIO Tradeshow: The conferences in 2005

This richmedia interface shows how a full day of conferences can be rendered in a single page.

The concept is demonstrated here with video synchronised with slides or animations, bio of the speakers, comments that can be translated in different languages and navigation to allow you to jump directly to any part of the conferences.

Have a look to the first series "Dessine moi une radio!" which is complete demonstrating the concept of Radio Broadcasting from AM, FM to Digital Technologies.

Digital Broadcasting has a serious advantage over mobile phones communications as the content can be huge in terms of data and you would not pay an arm and a leg because the videos are downloaded through the air like a radio and would not affect your phone plan.

When you interact with the device, a phone connection is established, transmitting your information at that moment only and represents a tiny bandwidth consumption.

So it becomes possible to watch interactive video content on mobile phones equipped with a digital radio receiver. And that exists in Korea...

Have a look to the different technologies available for Digital Broadcasting by clicking on the "Conferences Radio Numerique du Radio 2005" image. This was done in preparation of the show.

LERadio Project

First defined in 2000, LERadio (Learning & Entertainment Radio) may be relaunched soon. The concept is to provide an Educative channel in English for French listeners. Filled with different current and live content, the idea is to train the ear to the English language, while enjoying fun and informational subjects. It is all about giving a practical knowledge to help the listener to speak casual language outside of their professional remits.

I remember the painful experience of going to a pub in London and feeling stuck because my vocabulary was extremely limited and I was struggling with the different accents especially in noisy environments like a pub. Although I had all the necessary language in my business, I realised I could not do causal conversations and felt really frustrated as I had spent 12 years studying English in the French schools and yet could not really handle "standard" situations such as a problem with a plane travel, politics, sports and even standard gossiping. As a result I felt excluded and I thought if I had a way to learn how to handle a real conversation in English in any life situations that would impact my business and my personal life as well.

The program contains news, reports, interviews, a little bit of grammar and interesting expressions explained in a fun and interesting way. It does compete with the traditional schooling system or even the adult training websites and companies as we would work with original content mainly with additional content available on the market such as story telling.

Stay tuned. This will be developed later on.
